Why you should replace your metal end filter with a molded end.

We hear all the time from our customers about the concerns of switching from a metal end filter to a molded end. There is an assumption out in the field that metal is better because of the perceived notion that it is stronger and more durable.

But is it? Sidco’s molded end filters are made from the highest quality polyurethane in the industry and there are many reasons why a molded end should be the preferred choice over metal ends!

Keep reading to find out how swapping out your expensive metal end filter for a Sidco brand molded end filter will save you time and money!

1. You’ll never sacrifice performance with a Sidco filter molded end!

Our high-performing polyurethane allows us to replace the metal end cap with a molded end while enhancing performance. Sidco Filter has developed a special-formula polyurethane that is more rigid than others and does not have any additional fillers, foam, or air. This urethane provides a better seal and a more durable filter. Learn about Sidco’s specially developed polyurethane!

2. Ordering the right filter for the job means less opportunity for filter failures.

Metal end caps are commonly used by manufacturers who do not have the tooling capabilities to offer molded ends. They are offering an inferior option that creates more opportunities for bypass and breakdown in operations. Metal End caps are constructed with 3 components – a potting compound, a metal end cap, and a glued-on gasket. A Sidco molded end style filter is a one-component construction with our proprietary embedded risers and seals that make the molded end self-sealing during the application process.

3. Help out the environment and your company’s bottom line.

A molded end filter requires fewer components to build than a metal end filter. This means you’re saving on material costs, manufacturing costs, and reducing the carbon and water-consumption footprint of the product!

4. The perfect fit.

We create the molds for our molded end filters on-site. This means we can custom cut the exact dimensions that are needed to get the job done. Sidco can also offer custom mold configurations. New molds can be made faster than the lead time on end cap deliveries, ensuring you stay within the standard 5 day lead time!

5. Get filters faster.

More components mean more raw material suppliers are in the mix, resulting in a longer lead time on metal-end filters. Sidco’s molded end filters don’t rely on an outside source and are made-to-order on-site! Most molded end filters have a standard 5 day lead time.

6. Get quoted quicker.

If your end cap isn’t currently in stock, we have to request quotes from our suppliers and await their responses. A molded end seal can always be quoted within 24 hours!

7. Reduce your TCO and immediately begin saving on costs.

Switching to a molded end will reduce your total cost of ownership by reducing freight costs, increasing the efficiency with a better seal, and lowering the overall cost of the filter by decreasing the number of components. A molded end filter can also save you on expedite fees because most molded end filters have a one-week lead time!
